Okay, so I was overly optimistic in my assessment of Chapter 15 yesterday. So sue me!

I reread the chapter this morning and found it lacking, so I went back and did it again. The story has changed so much in the past few days that a major character had to change dramatically, requiring complete removal from the key scene of the chapter.

To the best of my ability to count, the story up to about 74,000 words where I'm at, and I still have probably another 5-8,000 to go. You can do the math yourself, but it's obviously grown from the original 66,500 of the first draft.

I'm still pretty certain I'll get the bare rewrite finished by worldcon. But there's still a sheet of little details that I've got stashed away to work on, and I'm not positive these will make it in by that time, and I may need a few days afterward. But hey, my deadlines are self-imposed right now. The way I see it, there's no reason to put out a product" I'm not happy with just to meet a deadline no one else cares about!

On the short fiction front, I received the contract for "Ties that Bind" from Adventures of Sword and Sorcery today. Randy's contract is fairly writer-friendly as far as that goes, a fact that pleases me greatly!

Oh, yeah. Received a rejection from Odyssey yesterday.
