For the past two day's I've been augering myself into the ground over a fairly substantial plot point. But I made good progress this morning. Basically, I had to figure out a way to ensure the protagonist was driving the plot at the end of the book, rather than have it totally driven into him. Once that got worked out, things went much better.

Anyway, I've made it through about 80% of chapter 16 (four pages to go). Then I'll need to close out the last chapter (only 4-6 pages, but will need a total rewrite). I still have an outside chance of finishing before Worldcon. It has to be tomorrow, though, as we're going to be heading south a little early and i'll not have the weekend to deal with things. Even if I don't nail the end date, and I do have all those little nagging items to clear up, I have to say I'm happy with the rewrite process I've run.

If I had been under a contractual deadline, I know I could have hit it.
