9 Days until Dare II

This was one of those days. Is it good news, or bad? I don't know. You be the judge.

First, GeneTech, an ancient anthology being run by Paul Riddell, replied to my submittal of some 600 days ago. The anthology never got off the ground, and he's returning all manuscripts. While I will say this was a long time span, and Paul did kinda hide under a rock for the last 6 months or so (at least he didn't return my e-mail), I also have to say that he was up front about what the wait would be some time ago. So, yes, I'm a bit peeved at the response time, but, you know, it was my perogative to pull the story any time I really wanted to.

Second, a story I sent to Aboriginal never made it there (or was uncerimoniously rejected some time ago and died at sea). So I'll be sending another copy soon.

Anyway...

I'll count them both as rejections on the "Accept-o-matic". I figure if it takes as long as a rejection, and I have to send the thing out again, it might as well be one!

Third, I recently received a request from Wizards of the Coast to fill out a W-9 for them. this confuses me greatly because I haven't done any work for them (or TSR) in the past year. Yes, "True Power" will be printed in DRAGON SOME DAY SOON, but I was paid for that work some two years ago.

Curiouser and curiouser.

On the Web front, I'm still receiving a few e-mails about the site, including one I really loved that told me to lighten up, writing is just a job like any other (or something like that). I won't mention his name here unless he comes back and says it's all right, but I seriously enjoyed the tone of his note. Work is busy right now, and I'm trying to get my writing life in gear before the Dare, so things seem really hectic. I barely even have time to read my e-mail, better yet respond well to it. The note made me smile and look at things differently for just that briefest of moments.

For such a brief missive, it was perfect. Heck, he even called me "Dude".

:)
