October 28, 1997
   I'm fully immersed in a "Get Ready for the Dare" mode. Yesterday, I finished preparing four manuscripts for the mail box and scoped out my plan for the rest of the week. Today I'll study of the world I intend to write in--I'm going to work in a fantasy universe I created several years ago. Wednesday, I'll finish the short story I've been rewriting about Garrard, then decide for certain whether I want to use him as the main character of my Dare or not. Thursday, I'll do a full character sketch of whoever my main character will be. Friday, I may just sleep! This is an interesting moment to be working toward another novel. Lisa is copyediting a "How to Write" book now by a well known SF author. She's had me read a chapter or two--consider it my inside advantage--that are definitely thought provoking. I'll have to follow a few of these brain puddles to see where they lead. I also took Brigid on a "special date" yesterday. I try to take her out wherever she wants to go on a routine basis (sad to say, I've been delinquent over the past couple months). We ended up at Noble Roman's pizza and Dairy Queen.
