December 8, 1997
My mailbox runneth over.

The good news first. My contributor's copies of Dragon #240 came today (feel free to go out and buy a few copies). [shamless plug, I know] Nothing thrills like seeing something I've written in print. Well . . . okay, I just lied. Receiving a check or a phone call from an editor beats that feeling--but not by much. One will note that in my experience, an editor does not call to reject a story!

In addition, I received a very nice card from Linda pertaining to completing the Dare, and writing in general. It's a photo of a lone man running the stairs at a football stadium. Afternoon sun beats down upon his back, and sweat glistens. his shadow is long before him. The caption reads "PERSEVERANCE" and has some great words of encouragement under them.

"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will." |

Thanks, Linda--I've got it right atop my PC!

Of course, there's always a little bad news. Stan Schmidt rejected a story of mine from Analog. Ah, well. Ring up number 88. Wonder where it'll go next!

I've gotten my feet back under me again after the Dare, and think I'm ready to plunge back into actuall writing. I'll likely start with finishing a couple short stories that I left hanging to complete the Dare. "Whispers in the Darkness" is one I want to get to soon, so maybe I'll start there tomorrow.

Also, just to drop a teaser here, I've started piddling a bit with my photo gallery section. So, I'll be releasing what I'll call revision 0.1 of the page sometime fairly soon (read this as likely in December!)

Well, enough for today. See ya tomorrow.
