Merry Christmas Eve

     Merry Christmas Eve!

Well, I finally think I understand "Whispers in the Darkness" well enough to write the thing. If you've been following this journal at all, you'll know this story has been bugging me for weeks. Today I've plodded through about 10 pages of it, and about an hour ago I hit upon the real story. Finally.

I was beginning to wonder if I would ever really understand what the he#! I was trying to do. With a little luck, I'll get another ten pages of it under my belt today and then finish it when I'm back from Louisville. Things go so much smoother when you've got a direction, eh?

On the congratulations front, let me mention that Christopher Rowe, a friend of mine who lives in Louisville, just sold his first tale to Realms of Fantasy. Can't wait to see it. Chris survived Clarion a couple years ago, and is a natural storyteller. Look for him to do some great things in the field . . . whenever he gets around to it!

In other progress, I've managed to wade through all those magazines I talked about earlier. I've got only the last month's issues of Analog and Asimov's in my "to read" pile--so I consider myself officially caught up.
