January 4, 1998
It's been a busy couple days.

Starting with the good stuff--Pamela Rice Hahn, who edits The Blue Rose Bouquet, an e-zine, wandered by my page a few days ago and has asked to reprint my article "Writers Who Don't" in her first issue. It's due out next month. I'll link to it whenever it's available.

I've also spent the last hour or so plotting out my plan for the next week. Holiday season is over, you know, and it's time to get back to work. I'm finding I'm actually just as productive during the 4:30-6:30 am time period as I a.m. in any normal day. (You know there's laundry and other stuff to do during the regular day!)

I'm planning in detail on a weekly basis and globally on a quarterly basis. For example
This week's goals:
Submittals -- "Metamorphosis", "Learning the Language"Correspondence -- Several, specifically closing the deal with Pamela Rice Hahn.Fishers' 5 -- Submit short story to themNovel -- Rewrite chapter 1Reading -- Finish latest issue of F&SFSeveral Others!
Quarterly goals:
Keep Short Stories on the MarketRewrite November Dare by the end of February.Get someone to read it in March.

See everyone tomorrow!

Congratulations to Amy Sterling Casil for selling "Chromosome Circus" to Gordon Van Gelder at F&SF!
It's her second story at F&SF, following the really fantastic "Johnny Punkinhead" of a year ago or so.
I'm particularly pleased to hear this because I got to see it about a year ago when Amy and I traded critiques. She read "A Place to Call Home" for me, and I read "Chromosome Circus". Obvioulsy, I got the better part of the deal!
Can everyone say jealous? |
