I've been making pretty good progress on one of my short story ideas. Made a good breakthrough last night, actually--maybe even while I was sleeping. You know that dream state when things seem real even when they aren't? Well this idea came then. I'm just glad I remember it now! Anyway, the thing is up to about 3,000 words and heading for 6-7,000 in the end.   I'm listening to Loreena McKennitt's "The Book of Secrets" as I write this morning, and I have to say it's very condusive to mental flow. Its lyrics and instrumental portions are beautifully blended such that you can hear everything, but it becomes non-intrusive if you let your mind wander away. I occasionally write to her CD "the Visit", also. But I think "The Book of Secrets" is even better--it really carries me forward.  Daily Persistence is © Ron Collins |
