The astute among you may have picked up the fact that the Accept-O-Matic rose another notch. This one was a rejection from Stan Schmidt at Analog. I had sent him a Christmas-related story, as he had once told me that he needs seasonal material 10-12 months prior to the season!

Hope you like the new photo on the front page (I'll use it on daily persistence only for today, I think). As soon as I saw it, I felt like it would fit into the site well both from the situational aspect (skimming the water to pick out its target), and the more holistic element (the bald eagle has had to make a come back from endangered status).

Besides that, I just thought it was beautiful. [grin]

The image came from a public web site, by the way, but I contacted them prior to using it to ensure it was acceptable. Karl Geng responded promptly letting me know it was fine, as well as wending complements on the site. (Thanks, Karl!)

I'm plugging away on the gangster short story this week. It's coming, but it's coming slowly. Humor is not my natural writing element. But I'm finding already that I'm learning things--you know, those things that should have been self evident but still hit you like a truck when you think of them?

Anyway, enough of this break. Gotta get back to the salt mines.
