A Note to the Readership

Still working on the gangster thing--only about half-way through. Between the play, Brigid's school, and a impromptu visit from my parents, my time has been unexpectedly slim the past two or three days. But the rest of the week is clear sailing, and I'm pleased to be able to put my nose to the grindstone and get rolling.

I did want to take a moment's break, however, to write about you. That's right, you, the "readership" of this page. I get the occasional e-mail from folks who read the place, and it's always positive [thank goodness!]. One of the surprising benefits of the site is receiving e-mail from "foreigners", folks from places outside the United States of America. They really bring home the meaning of the web, that there doesn't have to be any barriers between us. There's something powerful in that message.

I recently received an e-mail from Tanja Trültzsch, a web designer from Germany. She has a beautiful site, check it out--and if you understand german, check out her personal site, linked to this one. I've gotten mail from Poland, Finland, India, and a few others also. As well as from Cincinnati, Evansville, etc. GRIN.

Thanks so much for your time.

I didn't start p e r s i s t e n c e with the idea of having much of anyone read it. I really just wanted a place where I could keep my own spirits up, a place where I could focus on the positive (why does everyone on the web have to be so dour, anyway, huh?). But it's been so much more than that. It carries me notes of encouragement almost every day, little snippets of other people's lives and struggles and triumphs from all over the globe.

And these notes lift me in a way that is hard to describe. They energize me. They're somehow good for the soul. And, inthe final analysis, they make it easier to write.

     Again, thank you.

Congratulations to Christopher Rowe for his recent sale to "Pulp Eternity"! Looks like he'll share the debut issue with another good friend of mine, Charles Eckert
