     Congratulations abound!

Amy Sterling Casil just won third prize in the December 1997 Quarter of the Writers of the Future contest!

Mary Soon Lee just sold "The Day Before they Came" to Interzone.

I don't think I can match Amy or Mary, so I don't think I'll even try.

I've spent the last couple days critiquing, and I'm getting through the bulk of the effort. Work has taken a fairly hefty chunk of time, too--you know those guys who pay the bills tend to think you owe them your best effort, no matter what. [grin]

On the good side, there have been no more rejects in the past couple days and I'm willing to go with the idea that no news is good news.

My Confabulation agenda is as follows:
  • 10:00-11:00 Writing for editors: (I tag along with Tony Bryant)

  • 3:00-4:00 First Sales and What to Expect

  • 4:00-5:00 Warrior Mystic (which I guess is something having to do with fantasy stuff)

     Should be fun.
