Word has it that Brian Thomsen has formally accepted "Stan", the short story I wrote with Mike Resnick. So I've gone ahead and officially rang the Accept-O-Matic. This makes acceptance #2 for the first quarter of 1998. Don't know the publication date on this one, but I'm assuming sometime this year. If so, that means I'll have four tales coming out in 1998--an all-time high for me.

And the year ain't even a quarter over!

Not that I particularly enjoy blowing my own horn--but, hey, this is my place! Besides, life as a struggling writer is too dreary if you don't step back and assess your progress every now and then. Four stories being published in a year is not like, really huge, you know (believe me, I know!). But given where I was a year, and two years ago, it represents steady progress. So I'll take it.

As if I have any choice. [grin].
