I Don't Believe In Writer's Block

It's just one of those phases. I'm certain of it. So believe me when I say that "Plotfest 98" is just what I need.

I've been writing thousands of words over the past two weeks. And I've got 6 or 7 beginnings to show for it, and maybe even a middle or two. But no ends.

It's hard to get excited by a story that doesn't end, you know? [grin]

But that's all going to change this weekend as "Plotfest 98" comes to Columbus in the form of Lisa Silverthorne. Lisa and I have devised a little workshop between the two of us, and she'll be heading into town this afternoon. If all goes as envisioned we'll both have at least one story complete by Sunday, and possibly a few plots to take away for the next few weeks.

When things get difficult, take the bull by the horns and do something, I always say. That's the part that feels best about the whole thing, actually. Arranging this little get together makes me feel in control of my destiny, and I think that feeling reflects in everything I do. Maybe this is even why I don't believe in writer's block.

Writer's block sounds like something that gets done to you.

I believe that life is 10% what happens and 90% how you react (to quote my daughter!).

Beyond all that stuff, it will be great to see Lisa again. She is, of course, one of my favorite people.
