drop a line in my newsgroup

After a great Easter weekend, I'm nearly finshed with the final rewrite of "The Well of Waiting Souls". Martin sent me his version, I'm clarifying one point (albeit a major one), and then Lisa gets it for a final comb through. It's a big one--nearly 15,000 words.

Hope it was worth it!

Then I need an hour or two with "The Last Heartstone" (which is already through Lisa's grinder). It'll go in the mail over the weekend.

In my own good news--not nearly so good as Adrienne's and Louise's, but pretty okay, I suppose--I received my copy of the SFWA Forum today. My short story "The Test of Time" has received a couple more recommendations. I'm not in the rarified strata of truly being nominated (the area I'll from hereout call the Silverethorne Zone [ g r i n ]), but I'm feeling pretty decent about it. Not to toot my own horn, but unless I'm missing something, it's the most decorated/recommended story in the anthology.

Which is fun to say, even though that fact and a buck will still only manage to get me a bottle of spring water from the vending machine at work.

Sometimes you just have to put things in perspective!
