We pulled weeds in the yard this morning. It was very hot.

The less said about that phase of the morning, the better.

So, focusing on the positive, I woke up this morning and made it through something over 5,000 words. This section includes two fairly major new pieces that arose out of the things I've learned during this pass, so overall, I'm ecstatic about this progress. Now if the next few chapters cooperate as they should, the thing is really going to take off.

Lisa [the wife Lisa, not the writer Lisa] has just finished work on her last book before the August whirlwind convention tour, so she's going to pick her way through my book now.

Yes, she's a huge advantage, and yes, I'll take it!

The goal right now is to finish the rewrite by the end of next weekend in order to have some time to crank in her changes before we leave.

We will see, though.

There is one thing that I won't give up today, though, no matter where I am in my writing. It's a priority thing, you see. Writing is a huge priority in my life, obviously. But it's not the top one.

This afternoon we're taking Brigid to get ice cream. It's our reward for working so well together in the yard [dare ya to find a weed in our flower bed!], and I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Have a great day.
