Hey, did I mention I made this issue of the SFWA Bulletin?

     I quote:

"We've had several workshop alumni go on to professional careers. three of the most notable are ... and Ron Collins, who has had stories published in markets such as Dragon and Marion Zimmer Bradley's Fantasy Magazine."

     Way cool, eh?

At this stage of the game I still get a little rush when I see my name pop up like this--just like I still occasionally bumping into my name mentioned on someone else's web site, or even better, finding myself as a link on a site I haven't seen before.

Back to reality for a moment, though.

Laura liked the idea I had [ thank goodness ], and had some pretty cool brainstorms to go along with it. We've agreed on the fundamental working relationship, and I'm deeply into the first draft.

Did I mention that I'm feeling very professional right now? I don't know how else to describe it. Things are clicking along. Most of my internal deadlines are being met. Ideas are flowing.

This is how it's supposed to be.

Now if there was just any real money associated with this job ...

I knew there was a catch there somewhere.

"Why did people start to ask me to write for them?

I'm convinced it's because I proved I was a professional, that I could produce on demand and hit a deadline."
