Received Analog's page proofs for "Stealing the Sun" yesterday. I should get some time to check over them today or tomorrow. Okay, I'm kick me for being such a kid here, but I'm enjoying the thrill of seeing my name on the bottom of every other page, juxtaposed with Analog on their opposites.

     GOAL FOR THE MORNING:

Determine title of new story

My reading is stacked up again. I'm not quite done with "Children of God", and in the meantime the magazines have continued to flood over me. I've got three Asimov's, three Analogs, one F&SF (complete with the Joan Montana cover), and a SF Age to deal with.

Maybe I'll steal a trick from the publishing companies and do a reading day--just take a Saturday and browse the first page of every story, ignoring thse that don't grab on, and then going back to finish only those that hold some promise.

I continue to be amazed at how much money we give our government. Not sure what the "cause" of it is, but I also heard the story of one guy who, when asked how much tax he pays, replied "None, I get a refund every year."

Take it with one of those Urban Legend grains of salt, of course. But with mentalities like that among us, I'm surprised we don't pay more.

     Take it easy.
