You have to give credit where credit is due. If you've been around here for any time, you've probably heard me rag on SFWA a few times. But I've got to hand it to them. They really surprised me.

Thanks at least in part to a few members of SFWA leadership--Eleanor Wood is highly credited--Wizards of the Coast is going to pay fiction writers for their use of stories when they release the CD version of the first 250 issues. This is a very pleasant shock, meaning that I suddenly find myself in line for a pair of reprint checks.

     So today I'm eating crow.

Onward, SFWA. I'm behind you all the way, guys!

Never having faced the issue before, I struggled over whether to count reprints in my Accept-O-Matic or not. I thought about adding another column, but the chart is already pretty busy as it is. I thought about ignoring it, but that's not really a good idea--the table is meant to show something about progress over time, and a reprint says progress. In the end, I decided a sale is a sale.

If you think I'm being too easy on myself let me know.

If you think I'm obsessing over something that is so meaningless, well, you're probably right. But I'm a writer, dammit. It's my job to obsess over the meaningless!

Yes, I will someday settle on a design I like. Sorry for all the changes.

     Have a good day.
