... back to work ...

So I'm celebrating my brithday with my Mom on Mother's Day, and we're standing in my living room--my mother, Lisa, and I, all yo-yoing. Mom's got the loop-the-loop going, I'm working on around the world, Lisa's going double-fisted. Not to brag, but I'm the only one who can rock the cradle (harumpf!).

Dad walks across the front yard (he's been out walking around the pond in the park outside with Brigid). As he walks, he drops a quick yo. See, we got Mom a pair of yo-yos for Mother's Day (fitting, since it was her yo-yoing that got Lisa started), and Dad has swiped one. Don't worry, we got her more than a couple yo-yos, of course.

"Jeeze," he says as he walks in, wiping a droplet of sweat off his brow. "There's a bass out there about that big. He holds his hands apart, the yo-yo casually tucked under one thumb. Apparently the fish are spawning.

So we all go outside and watch Brigid feed the fish bread, yo-yoing at the side of the pond while people walked around us, grinning and shaking their heads in wonder at four adults tossing yo-yos while the kid just stands there tossing bread into the water.

The best birthdays come on Mother's Day, too, you know?

I'm of the impression that most families grow more mature with age. But I kinda like mine that way it is.

But I've just looked at my daily planner, and realized I've got a 7:00 meeting this morning. So it's back to work, eh?

But what did you get written, Ron?
