... Eureka! ...

After yesterday's downer, I just decided to heck with it. I just sat down this morning and wrote a little dialog, not really trying to write the story, per se, but just letting the characters interact a little.

Next thing you know, I had an entirely new relationship between a couple characters that (to me) really crackled. You know it when it's happening, believe me. At least I've gotten to the point where I know when something is working for me. It's a pretty cool feeling, too. Like ice water in your stomach after having spent an afternoon cutting grass.

Well ... maybe that was a sucky metaphor.

     Sorry.

The point is, though, that I got almost a thousand words of pretty interesting stuff on paper. This new relationship is intriguing, and now I'll follow it. In other words, my own fire has been caught. Now the story will essentially tell itself (I'll probably live to regret saying that, but this is usually what happens at this point).

     It's a great day, ain't it?

     Have a great one.
