... it's all coming together ...

In order to cover all my bases, I stepped back yesterday and tried to see the entirety of the story I'm working on. I identified four areas that I considered weaknesses, and I laid them out in single sentences that made sense to me.

I spent this morning working out three of the four.

Tomorrow I'll do the fourth.

Usually, I find stories that take forever to write to be a bit trying. A bit wearing. I'll sometimes lose focus on them because of the time span it takes to write them. Kris Rusch once told me that she tries to rewrite her novels in two weeks because that's how long she can hold a story in her head. And that makes total sense to me.

But, I'm pleased to find that this story is one that's built on me from the very beginning. It's one that's been a whole lot of fun despite the fairly long process. I've found it moderately easy to get myself back into the flow of the tale, and I think the reason is that the main character is one that I really enjoy. He's like a high school friend in that I learn a little more about him every time I sit down to flesh out more of the story. And while I don't like everything about him, he's a very sympathetic person.

Almost makes it hard to do all these nasty things to him.

But somehow, I manage.

Have a good one.
