Last weekend was pretty busy, but somehow I still managed to flowchart out most of the story I've recently been working with. Got the rest of it charted Monday morning, and even managed to push into a little implementation.

I had written about 1,500 words on it before the weekend, and I had hit a wall where I realized I didn't know what direction to take the flow anymore. It's a story that has a little political wheeling and dealing in it, so the real problem here was that I needed to know what happend before the story line starts in order to determine what a couple characters would do next. Consider it a corrolary to Stephen Leigh's There Has To Be a Reason approach to world building.

Now that I have the story charted, I'm hoping I can make it a short story (defined as under 7,500 words). If so, I should be finished writing the first draft by maybe Thursday with a little luck. Friday at the latest.

This would put me pretty much on my internal schedule I wrote up a couple weeks ago--and we all know how good that makes a neurotic planner like me feel.

Have a good day.
