Day 2
September 20, 1999 11:59 p.m. (hey, if congress can stop the clock, so can I)

Upon hearing of my comment about the slim airplane seats in yesterday's entry, my beautific ten-year-old daughter apparently asked:

"Okay, how big was the other guy?"

No respect, I tell you. I get no respect.

Officially, I guess it's Tuesday. But to heck with the official junk, all right?

It pains me to say it, but I did not write a story last night. Instead, I got about seven hours of sleep, and woke relatively fresh--despite a car alarm that went off under our window in the middle of the night.

We did the workshop thing, and performed a circulate, pretty much like last year. This time I met a couple ladies from Germany who were traveling together. This event lead me to the story that I wrote this afternoon/evening. Bruce (my roomie), Amy, and I all sat up in my room and wrote stories from our events of the day. I think Amy's rounded out at 5,500 words. Mine is about 4,500. Bruce's is nearing 3,000. So our tirad kicked out a minmum of 13,000 words today (Bruce is still working as I type).

I'm moderately pleased with what I have at this point, but I know it's missing a couple of details in a few places that would probably help it out. I strecthed myself from a character viewpoint, though. So this one is kind of fun, and the whole "story" is there. Just a matter of clean-up and character scrubbing before I would say it's ready to ship.

Of course, it's late ... so maybe I'm delusional.

And, of course, I'm still looking for a title. Grr...

This year's group is different from last year's. I'm not sure I can adequately describe it. Maybe it's me. Maybe it's the fact that things are more scrunched together from a schedule standpoint in regard to last year. I think this year's group is writing more. I think last year's group got along together better from the very start.

This isn't to say that the gang here isn't getting along.

Not at all.

But it's different.

Maybe it's because there are two less of us, too. I don't know. Regardless, I am having a pretty great time, and I am working on getting a bunch of writing done. In addition to the tale I wrote this eveing, I've also finished 90% of the rework I needed to do to "The Taranth Stone" (still working on the dialog section, Cutie).

Tomorrow morning I'll scan through this story again, then try to finish "The Taranth Stone" for good.
