     So, here's the set-up.

Lisa and I have been planning to go to a "convention" for the past couple months. We've arranged for Mom and Dad to take us to the Louisville airport, and of course, drag Brigid along (couldn't leave her alone at Papa and Mingo's house, now, could we)?

We did most of the packing last night.

Brigid has been informed that she must load up her homework bag so that she can do it while she's in Louisville, and that the grandparents will zip her back to Columbus so she can go to school this coming week.

     So, here's the plan.

Lisa will do the extra packing later this morning. I'll leave work a tad early, we'll pull Brigid out of school a tad early, then high-tail it to Louisville. Mom and Dad, and Brigid, of course, will take us immediately to the airport. Gotta make that plane, you know?

We've got e-tickets, so I'll go up and get the arrangements made. We'll accidentally bring Brigid's homework bag, and beg forgiveness when she realizes she has to carry it.

     We'll all go through security.

When we get to the gate, we'll all sit down and get comfy. Then Lisa will pull out the package. It will be wrapped, of course.

"Brigid," she'll say. "We have an early birthday present for you that we wanted you to have now because we thought it would come in handy while we're gone."

Brigid at this point should be pleased. Not much beats getting an early birthday present. She'll tear open the package, figuring it will be a book--which it is.

If all goes according to plan, there will then be a mushroom cloud over Louisville.

You see, the book is a kid's guide to Disney World. The "convention" we've been planning is, of course, fake as all get-out. Lisa and I have been literally bursting at the seams to tell someone this for months, and it's been getting worse and worse every minute.

     Anyway.

     Now it's out.

I'm taking a total break from writing. No computer. No plotting. No line editing. It's a total focus on fun. I may even try to just read for kicks. Then again, maybe not. Who knows?

By the time you read this, we'll probably be on our way. Have a good week. I'll not be updating through at least the 23rd, so maybe take a break from here. Enjoy the rest of the NAW until then--or maybe go back a read some of the archive. There are a few decent entries back there somewhere. I'll see you when I get back.

"There's a part of it that I don't understand, that I can't tell you. I can't tell you the connection between whatever's out there and the spark of inspiration. I don't know what that is. It could be something that's happened to myself, that wants to come out and wants to be dealt with. So I start from that and then it's the craft part, what is the music that speaks for that, what is the vehicle for that, and what are the right words, what's the exact way I want to say it and then, what's the melody that carries it the best?
