The scene opens at Arnie's. It's a small sandwich and pizza place in Columbus, Indiana--which just so happens to be where we live. We're sitting at a table, Brigid across the table from me, Lisa to my left. Behind me is a row of booths. The walls are painted with an orange border and are decorated with stuff from local businesses.

Some time ago, one of our friends sent us a sheet of puzzles, and asked us to guess what they all were. These were all things like:
11 = P on a F T
answer: Players on a Football Team

Got it?

Every now and again, when we're sitting around doing nothing, we find ourselves making these up to test each other. We had done two or three, when I came up with my killer. No way they would get this one. You see, I was going to cheat.

I figured it was time for 1 = S D in the F. (1 = Super Daddies in the Family -- hey, if I can't brag among the three of us, who can I brag to, huh?) I wrote down my equation and turned it around to let Brigid an Lisa see it, smugly stating "You'll never get this one."

Brigid and Lisa leaned in to peer at it.

Then my daughter, the dear, sweet child who I have helped raise for these past oh so many years, looked up with her eyes glistening.

"One Stupid Daddy in the Family," she said.

Lisa glanced over her shoulder at me, and immediately beings laughing.

"You should see your face," she said.

I tried to ignore it, but it was too late. I started laughing, too.

Correction: I've been informed that yesterday's entry was incorrect. It was Caroline who commented upon my getting up early, not Chiara (who has no interest whatsoever in such early morning hours :) ).

Good morning at the keyboard. I'm through chapter two and into three. Not as far as I wanted, but substantial nonetheless.

Have a good one, okay?

Many Thanks to Shannon Wendt for her award
