Geeze. What kind of a self-promotion artist am I when I forget to mention the publication of one of my stories? Arg.

WFC represented my first opportunity to see the copy of Quantum with my story "Fighting for Kylie" in it. This package also has stuff from Lisa Silverthorne (a truly beautiful story titled "The Spirit House") and something from Terry Kanago titled "The Lost Boys." Bottom line, the entire Quantum package is out, now, and I think it's got some really nice work in it. Follow the link and check it out.

So, I'm working on the novel, fully into chapter 5.

Enough said on that.

Another error to mention from my WFC entry. Steven's name is Steven, not Steve ... again, my fault.

Yesterday was Lisa's birthday. Brigid and I took her out to dinner, of course. And she got her presents and all. It was a quiet, low-key brithday, but I think that's what she wanted.

I saw where the California ATM law was passed (you know, banning banks from charging ATM fees), and that now people are upset that many banks are removing the service. Wow. Like, what did they expect? How many businesses offer free services to people who aren't their customers? Ah, never mind. Getting off topic, again. Terribly sorry.

Of course, this whole entry feels like a scattershot touching upon a group of weird topics. So, let's go a little further. What the heck. Of course, you could just duck and cover and be done with it.

Brigid is "into Pokemon," which, as far as I can tell, consists of going to the card shop once a week and spending her allowance on a bunch of playing cards that she stacks up on her shelf. I'm missing something here. I understand most fixations, you know? Furbies were cute, and they talked. Tickle Me Elmo? Hey, I like Elmo. Barbies, of course, are almost mandatory in any girl's home--sorry to be so non-PC.

And, yes, I remember collecting baseball cards. But that was different. We played with them, first off. And they made the most perfect engine sound when you clipped them to your bicycle spokes--yes, I did that. I had a golden sting ray, the greatest thing on two wheels, really. And I used baseball cards and raced up and down the street pretending I was Boby unser or Mario Andretti, or (mostly) the great Jim Clark.

See, I warned you this was scattershot.

Anyway, I just miss the boat entirely on the Pokemon thing. Color me out of touch.

Well, I'm out of time this morning, so I'll just ride into the electronic sunset and skidaddle out of town.

Have a good one, okay?

Many Thanks to Shannon Wendt for her award

"They have no lawyers among them, for they consider them as a sort of people whose profession it is to disguise matters."
Sir Thomas More
A quotation picked at random, and for no purpose other than it struck me (seems appropriate for the day's entry, don't you think?)
Sorry to miss yesterday. My host server was apparently down during my normal update period.
