There he Goes Again

My company held one of those big corporate pep rallies this week. You know, where all the managers get together and put on skits and talk about how things are going to get better, and how the company is a new company starting today. It was really a lot of fun, and I honestly think they're trying.

The main undercurrent of the discussion was that things are changing.

Well, duhhhhuuuhhhhh, huh?

Anyway, keeping in the spirit of that idea, things are changing here, too. (Like you couldn't tell). I've gone away from frames as far as I could specifically at the request of a few regular readers -- hey, you read the place, you influence the design. I've also added back a few oldies but goodies at the pseudo request of a few others.

The ultimate goal of the redesign was to give you a viewpoint of everything on the site from the front porch. You guys get to say how well I achieved that, of course. I've also used a bit of perl and other server side things to do various placements. With luck this means even those of you with older browsers will get the majority of content from the same sources (meaning that I won't have to maintain essentially two versions of the site).

The changes may still be a bit ragged in that various links may still need closing (I've tested a bunch of it, but a few always seem to escape my attention), and we'll see how the interactive message board goes (I assume I'll have a few code problems to work out because, while I've tested the program, it's not yet error-proofed against weird entries), so hang with me for a few days. I figured I would release now (Friday) in order to get a day's full usage before going into the quieter weekend were code fixes and improvements can happen.

I should note that the message board is meant to hold only ten messages (still playing with this, though). After the tenth, the oldest will scroll away. This, of course, means that you have to come back often if you want to participate in a really active discussion! [capitalistic grin].

So, that's it for now.

As always, let me know if you have any issues.
