There was a time when caffeine did not hold such a prominent place in my life. I know there was. But I stayed up until almost midnight last night to finish Harry Potter number four. Add to this the fact that we stayed up late Friday and Saturday night thinking that we might get to see fallout from the magnetic storm that was supposed to be headed our way. Alas, it was not to be. Despite two crystal-clear nights, we saw nothing but a gorgeous full moon and several stars.

Now my brain is paying the price.

We had a pretty busy weekend, specifically including having a visit by Ann-Marie Horcher and her very lovely daughters Kate-Alice and Monica-Rose. They were in town for a Scottish festival dance competition, and we met them for lunch and ice cream afterward. In the process we ran into Charles Eckert, so I guess you could say we held an impromptu ColumusCon, which was just like any other con but no fans or panels or gamers or ... hum.

     Never mind.

We also rented "Somewhere in Time" so Brigid could see all the Mackinac Island landmarks--which, I think she thought was pretty cool. And "Young Frankenstein" -- a total classic. And "Anastasia" (which Brigid had seen in Louisville with my parents and wanted to see again).

Also managed a thousand or two words on a story Sunday morning--which I should be working on again right now, but I'm not.

Lisa weeded the landscaping. I cut the grass.

In the process I came up with a really interesting idea for another story. So I spent a bit of time this morning jotting down the particulars so I wouldn't forget it totally while I was off telling other stories.

Sometimes I swear I'm experiencing life on a video tape, and now it's running on fast forward.
