So, what did you do this morning?

I would like to say I was really productive this morning, but that would be a lie. Instead I spent most of my time printing out the latest issue of Speculations. Don't blame them, though. It's not Kent Brewster's fault that I suddenly turned geometrically challenged.

If you're a subscriber (and if not, why not? Get thee hence and sign up), you know they are distributing their publication electronically in PDF format. It comes in one of several flavors. Personally, I prefer the saddle-stitched version that I can print out in proper zine format and carry around with me to read during lunches at work (or whatnot). Unfortunately, this style requires printing half the pages, rearranging them, and printing the other half.

Generally this is not a problem.

At least not for anyone with half a brain cell working.

But apparently the half a cell I had scheduled to work this morning called in sick or something, and I was left totally defenseless against the beast that is my printer. First I got a jam. Then I printed both passes on the same side of the paper. Then, when I finally got it "right" it took me several minutes to figure out how to compile the stupid pages ... many of you would have already figured out that page 2 follows page 1, and page three follows page 2, and so on. Me, I had to relearn this highly complicated lesson again.

     Grumble.

I am proud to say, however, that I have prevailed. The Specul-a-beast is slayed. I can now read all the newbie news that's fit to print. And, yes, I did manage a few words of fiction before the morning was completely gone.

     Have a great day.
