Living in MTV Time

It feels like my entire life has recently been a patchwork quilt. I get ten minutes here, then an interruption, and ten minutes there, and an interruption, and five minutes here and an interruption.

     Not that I'm complaining.

It's just that it makes it hard to get any inertia built up, and it means I've got a bunch of projects that are in process and very few of them actually hitting the completion stage.

I'm a person who thrives on checking off boxes.

Maybe this is why time seems to be going faster as we get older--ten minute snippets. They make life like an MTV clip.

Being a sixth grader, and therefore of the graduating class at her school, Brigid is doing a bunch of pretty cool things this year. Monday she went to a city council meeting. This morning she's off to Indianapolis to page for the State government.

With any luck, she'll get that tax reduction bill through before lunch.

It's strange, you know, watching a person grow up.

My little three-day foray into another short story appears complete [yeah! one box checked]. "The Cold Place" has rounded out at about 9,500 words. It morphed a little in the process, but not much. I knew what I wanted to do, I did it, then I cleaned it up a bit. The most interesting thing about it was that the scene that actually gave me the start is no longer even in the story.

     Go figure.

So now I'll do the usual post story stuff, and get back to the novel. Unless, of course, another great short story comes along. [grin]

     Have a great day.

Sure, Ron, we'll believe in this novel when we see it
