Don't Go Near the Locus, Man!
March 14, 2001 7:26 a.m.
It's not often that I get a rejection through the trade magazines.

But there I was, was reading through this month's issue of Locus, when I saw that Silicon Dreams (with my story "K-232") is scheduled for December of this year. It's a ways out there, but this is good news, I think.

Then I saw Starlight 3 is scheduled for May. Seeing that I haven't heard from them on my submission of God only knows how long, and including in that statement the acknowledgment that I haven't seen galleys or a contract or whatever, I am taking this to mean that the anthology is going forward without me.

I consider this to be their loss, but then, what the heck do I know, huh?

Now, I'm not complaining about this. Not really.

I've heard a gazillion writers complain about Starlight's submission response halflife and it's relation to that of radioactive waste. But I'm not one of them. PNH has gone out of his way to suggest that if you send him a story, you might assume it's going to sit for quite awhile. So, I figure I went into it with the understanding that I could just cross the story off my list for a bit.

Though, as I stew on it, I'll admit that I did assume the response time might be close-ended.

Anyway.

Just means I'll print this baby out and send it on its way some place else.

Have a good day.

I suppose you're still waiting for that Pulp Eternity rejection, too, right?
