Day 23: Back to Work
April 23, 2001 7:06 a.m.
1,200 Words

I've had a pretty good morning considering that I didn't get up quite as early as I wanted. The work I did yesterday to get my outline in order has paid off in that I sat down today knowing exactly what I wanted to write, and was able to basically just pour myself into the situation at hand and write what happens.

Made it through about half of the stuff that I wanted to do in the earlier sections. Tomorrow I should be able to finish the rest of that work. Once I get into moving the full story ahead, I'll get a better idea as to whether I can finish the draft by the 30th or not.

I'm actually very pleased at this point, if not a bit tired.

Given that I've been working on this one for about three months, and that I've given myself leeway to spend a good amount of time going back over material that I didn't feel was quite right, this draft is, I think, a pretty good one. Not that I would send it directly to a publisher, or anything. But I like the work that's here, and I like that the story should be pretty well complete on this pass--which is unlike some of the other work that I've done.

The second draft should be a lot easier, and require less new material than others I've worked on.

But then, I'm not done, yet, am I?

Have a great day.
