John W. Campbell Award - Kristine Smith

I was really pleased to see Jack Williamson win a Hugo, of course. Here's a guy who's given his life to the SF world, and though I'm not certain "The Ultimate Earth" is his best story ever, I would have voted for him a hundred times if I could have.

I suppose that statement could undermines my credibility or integrity, but I hope you understand what I mean.

The more controversial selection was, of course, the choice of a Harry Potter story for best novel. Personally, I think it's a great choice, though I didn't read all the nominees. Harry Potter stories are great reads, IMHO, and certainly a very nice fringe benefit of having a kid young enough to want them read to her. Let's just say that Harry Potter beats the heck out of ... well ... a couple others. That alone would probably be enough for me. [grin]

1/24/30: Day 3
More work on Glamour of the God-touched, and some finishing up on the short story I started in North Carolina, titled "A Million Times Before."

Total writing time: maybe 4:30.

     Have a great day.
