Anticipation

The book continues. I'm working on new material, and things are coming along. Before it's all said and done, I'm beginning to expect this story has one more surprise in store for me. I feel it hiding in the wings, actually. This surprise has to do with the relationship between two characters, but it's not solid to me at this point.  I don't think this relationship is something physical, by that I mean something that has to happen between them inside the guts of the story. I think it is something metaphorical, or spiritual. I think it's something that goes straight to the purpose of the story. This is a strange feeling. It's like I'm being watched but not in the unpleasant, stalking kind of way. It's kind of fun, actually. Some time ago I gave Lisa (the wife/copyeditor) a card that showed a girl in the rain. The caption was "Anticipate the Rainbows." That's what this is like.
