     More good progress this morning.

Despite this progress, my goal of finishing the incorporation of Lisa's copyediting commentary by Friday is on shaky ground. It's still achievable, but I would be hesitant to plunk down the ranch on an even odds bet. After all this time, I suppose missing the "deadline" by a day won’t be the end of the world.

Lisa and I played Scrabble a night or two ago. We used to playy a lot of Scrabble, but just haven't had as much time or as much energy for it the past several years. This marks about the third time in a month or so that we've played, though. The board was a mess this game and scoring had been painfully difficult, but I managed a little run in the middle of the game, and Lisa got stuck with a bazillion vowels. Despite the fact that I got caught faulting on the use of "er" as a word (hey ... er ... I use it all the time!), I managed to eek out an eight point victory.

"That's the second time in a row that you've beat me," Lisa said as I put the game away. "Not that I'm counting."

"I didn't win this one so much as I just managed to be ahead when the tiles ran out."

Life is like that sometimes. Sometimes you don't win or lose so much as take whatever position you're in when time runs out. Musical chairs, scrabble style.

Lisa smiled and nodded with that look that said she understood but that I had better watch out. She would be getting me next time.

     Life is like that, too.

The music never stops for long.

     Have a great day.
