So I finished my rough draft of the second story I'm writing with John Bodin. I'll look at it again tomorrow, and zip it off if I'm comfy with it. I'm sure it can use additional detailing and all that entails, but I think we're going to end up with something fun and entertaining again.

My Bearcat friend Gary mentioned on the sidebar that the Fictionwise rankings are all about pent up demand, and new material, and all that. And, of course, he's right. Still, I can't help but smile when I see my name above some of these guys that I've read for all my life. I mean, once I was listed above Scott Card, but that was in the early days of the Web, and was just for having a cooler website. Those days are gone. [grin]

I hope everyone who reads this place routinely will understand that I have a fairly reasonable understanding of my place in the SF/literary world (it's somewhere between a tick and a field mouse, I think). But I'm still enough of a pure fan to get a real kick out of seeing my name above Asimov's and Ellison's for something related to writing, even if it is for just a fleeting moment in time, and even if it is merely a trick of the light.

I mean, come on. Life is too hard to be realistic all day, you know?

     Have a great day.
