A LOTR Conversation
October 28, 2005 4:53 p.m.
We went to Lord of the Rings exhibit this past weekend. It was great, as expected. I highly recommend it.

As these things are wont to do, it let us out at the gift shop. Brigid and I enjoyed looking at the LOTR versions of Risk and Monopoly for a bit. Then I went on. I came to a small display of figurines and other assorted junk. A couple came by, both very young. I assume dating.

"What's that?" the woman said.

"It's the full collection," the guy replied, looking at the shrink-wrapped box set.

"DVD or VHS?"

He turned it over in his hands, trying to decide. "I don’t know. Must be DVD."

"Those don't look like DVDs,"

"Hmmm. Must be tapes." He put the box back, and they moved on.

I shook my head and looked at the poor lonely box that contained the three books with "J.R.R. Tolkein" stenciled on the spines.
