Permeable

Halloween Hearts is an anthology of true love & spooky romance; twelve tales of cursed love, monstrous meet-cutes, dark and stormy witchcraft, and happily ever hauntings. You can get your copy just in time for Halloween (and get your name included as a supporter) by backing the project on Kickstarter.

I’m writing this with a cat on my lap. This is appropriate because B. A. Paul’s “Permeable” includes an ancient and wise feline as a member of its cast. Alas, my lap cat is not quite ancient, nor is she particularly wise. She is, however, the queen of the condo.

Duh?

In the video I’ve linked below, B. A. Paul says her story, “Permeable,” is about “belonging and the distance between where you think you belong and where your heart really feels at home.”

Which is, of course, exactly why Brigid and I loved it so much. “Permeable” is 100% a love story, but one that manages to explore love of all types—place, duty, family, ancestry, wonder, and soulmates—in the magical and anxious ways that can come with the spooky season and with coming of age. I figure you’ll likely read it once for its impact, then probably again simply to enjoy its whimsy.

We were so happy to have it in this anthology.
