It seems to me
with three days to go
that we are at the top of this
roller coaster
edging forward
holding on
feeling the
tangled wilderness below
Knowing soon
we will hurtle
downward
gaining speed on rails
we’ve built ourselves
and hoping someone else
remembered
to build the bottom
